How do students study water at St Mary’s Primary School?
We study water throughout the year as part of our sustainability unit which is a year long unit. We have partnerships with organisations such as Friends of the Wetlands and Parks Victoria and are fortunate to be able to do lots of hands on activities in our local area.
What did your students study as part of their water unit?
Properties of water; Biodiversity; Food chains; Water quality and macro invertebrates; Renewable energy.
What were the highlights of the unit?
On site visits to our local wetlands at Jawbone reserve. The children learned how to measure the impact of human interaction on our environment with a view to doing something about it.
