Water Saving Tips

There are many ways to save water around your home, at school and at work. And they don't take much time or effort.
Place buckets or ice-cream containers under drinking taps and use the water on the garden
Reduce your shower time to four minutes or less
Install a three-star rated water-efficient showerhead
Always use the economy cycle on your dishwasher
Wash your vegetables in a bowl and reuse the water in the garden
Fix any leaks as soon as you notice them. A slowly dripping tap can waste 20,000 litres per year
Consider replacing a single flush toilet with a modern dual flush one to save around 95 litres per day
Turn the tap off when brushing your teeth to save up to 335 litres per month
Rather than rinsing your razor under a running tap, use a little warm water in the sink instead
When replacing your washing machine, consider a 4-star or better front loader to cut your water use by up to 50%
When selecting new plants, look for drought tolerant varieties
A pool cover will reduce evaporation from your swimming pool
Always wait until you have a full load before washing
Group plants according to their water needs
Use mulch on your garden to reduce water evaporation by up to 70%
A tap aerator could save you around 9 litres per minute
Place a bucket under the shower to catch the warm up water and use it to clean your floors or on the garden
